The Deli

Built for The Deli in Restaurant / Food Service

A brand-new restaurant went from zero — no website, no online menu, no Google presence, no ordering system — to a fully operational digital business before they even opened the doors.

The Deli

Project Overview

The Deli is a neighborhood sandwich shop in St. Matthews, Louisville, KY — founded by Julie and Bruce. They serve build-your-own sandwiches with premium meats, real cheese, and house-made condiments. Classic American deli meets local neighborhood spot. The problem: they were a brand-new restaurant with nothing. No website, no online presence, no way for customers to find them on Google, no menu online, no system for taking catering inquiries, and no way to collect customer info for future marketing. They had a Square account and an iPad, and that was it. For a new restaurant trying to build buzz before opening day, that's a dead start. We built everything. When someone in Louisville searches "sandwich shop near me" or "deli in St. Matthews," The Deli shows up. They land on a site that immediately tells them what the restaurant is about, shows the full menu with prices, explains how the build-your-own system works, and gives them directions — all from their phone. A customer can go from "never heard of this place" to walking in the door in under two minutes. The site captures leads on two fronts. Regular customers see the full menu and can order online through Cash App. Corporate customers and event planners fill out a detailed catering inquiry form — event type, date, guest count — and that inquiry lands directly in the owner's inbox. Before this, catering meant hoping someone would call. Now it's a form that works 24/7, even when the restaurant is closed. But the website was only part of it. We built their entire point-of-sale menu from the ground up in Square. Every sandwich option, every bread, protein, cheese, topping, and condiment organized into modifier groups so the register was ready to take orders on day one. We also configured the full catering menu — sandwich platters, chicken salad platters, dessert platters, bag lunches, bulk sides, beverages by the gallon, even delivery fees based on distance. All of it organized into categories that show up on the register iPad, with correct pricing and tax applied. The site also collected email subscribers during the pre-launch phase, building a list of interested customers before the doors even opened. Google Business Profile was set up and connected. The entire digital infrastructure was finished before The Deli served its first sandwich.

The Challenge

The Deli was a brand-new restaurant with literally nothing — no website, no online menu, no Google presence, no ordering system, no way to capture catering leads, and no way to collect customer info. They had a Square account and an iPad. For a new restaurant trying to build buzz before opening day, being invisible online is a dead start.

The Solution

We built the entire digital infrastructure in one engagement. A website that shows the full menu, captures catering inquiries, and ranks on Google. A complete Square Restaurant setup with every menu item, modifier, and catering option configured and ready to ring up orders. A Google Business Profile so customers can find them. And an email list that started collecting subscribers before the restaurant even opened.

Key Features

Full menu online with prices — customers know exactly what they're getting before they walk in
Build-your-own sandwich builder — 6 breads, 9 proteins, 6 cheeses, 9 toppings, 10 condiments, all laid out clearly
Catering inquiry form — event planners fill out date, guest count, event type, and it goes straight to the owner's email
Entire Square register menu configured — every item, modifier, and price ready to ring up orders on day one
Catering menu in Square — platters, bag lunches, sides, drinks, and delivery fees all set up
Google-ready from day one — hours, address, menu, and pricing all structured so Google can read them directly
Works great on phones — because that's how most people find a restaurant
Email subscriber list — collected interested customers before the restaurant even opened
Online ordering link — connects to Cash App for pickup orders
Daily rotating sandwich suggestion — the "Today's Pick" gives customers a nudge if they can't decide
Contact form that actually works — sends a real email to the owner, not into a void
Embedded Google Map — customers get directions with one tap
Catering page with occasion types — office lunches, parties, team events, family gatherings — helps customers see themselves ordering
Professional food photography — fast-loading images that make people hungry

Results & Impact

The Deli opened with a fully operational digital presence — website, online ordering, Square register, and Google visibility — all ready on day one. Catering inquiries come in automatically through the website. Event planners fill out a form with date, guest count, and event type, and it lands in the owner's inbox. No phone tag. The entire menu — regular and catering — was configured in Square and ready to ring up orders from the first customer. Email subscribers were collected before the doors opened, so the restaurant had people to notify on launch day. When someone searches for a sandwich in St. Matthews, The Deli actually shows up.
