Adoption Assistance

Built for Adoption Assistance, Inc. in Non-Profit / Adoption Services

A 23-page adoption agency website rebuilt for speed and savings. Inquiries up 40%. Phone calls down. Hosting costs slashed from $99/month to $24/month.

Adoption Assistance

Project Overview

I built the original Adoption Assistance website on WordPress years ago. Twenty-three pages for a licensed adoption agency serving Kentucky and Tennessee. It worked. But their hosting was garbage. Ninety-nine dollars a month for cPanel hosting that made pages crawl. Load times were embarrassing. The agency was bleeding $1,188 a year on hosting that actively hurt their business. I rebuilt the entire site from scratch. Same content. New foundation. Next.js instead of WordPress. Static pages instead of database queries. Fast instead of slow. The site serves two audiences with completely different needs. Prospective adoptive parents looking to grow their family. Expectant mothers considering adoption placement. Both groups are in emotional, high-stakes situations. They need different information at different times. So I built dual navigation that adapts based on which journey they choose. The header changes to show relevant links for their specific path. No confusion. No wrong turns. Just the information they need when they need it. Forms were a mess before. Three separate pages with different layouts. Users got lost. I consolidated everything into one forms section with six application types. JotForm handles the backend. Users pick their form, fill it out, done. No hunting through the site trying to figure out where to apply. Assets live on AWS S3 with CloudFront CDN. Images, PDFs, resources - everything loads fast from edge servers close to users. No more waiting for files to download from a slow shared hosting server. I also set up infrastructure for migrating their 11 email accounts off the expensive cPanel hosting to a dedicated email provider. Another $75/month saved once they flip the switch. The training resources section was the feature that made the client light up. It provides adoptive parents with educational materials and preparation guides. Questions that used to come in as phone calls now get answered online. The staff spends less time repeating the same information and more time on actual casework. Results speak for themselves. Inquiries jumped 40% after launch. Phone call volume dropped as people found answers online. Hosting costs went from $99/month to $24/month on Vercel. That is $900 saved every single year. The site loads in under a second instead of 4-5 seconds. Forms went from scattered chaos to organized simplicity. This is the value equation in action. Better outcome (more inquiries). Higher certainty (professional design builds trust). Less time (fast pages keep users engaged). Less effort (clear navigation guides users to action). The agency gets more inquiries while spending less money and less time answering basic questions.

The Challenge

The agency paid $99/month for cPanel hosting that made their 23-page WordPress site painfully slow. Forms were scattered across 3 separate pages, confusing users trying to apply. They needed better performance without increasing costs.

The Solution

Rebuilt the entire site from WordPress to Next.js with static pages for instant loading. Consolidated 3 form pages into a single unified section. Created dual-audience navigation that adapts to user journey. Moved to Vercel hosting for $24/month and set up AWS S3 with CloudFront for fast asset delivery.
